Good Day Folks! I am finally getting this intro post done after having this domain for nearly a year. It’s funny how so many things get in the way of the things you most want to do in life, but here we are finally.
You have found my blog either through my Instagram account, The Alchemy of Wings, because you are a friend or family member who is super supportive, or you have stumbled blindly upon it. In all cases, welcome!

What can you expect from me and this blog? My intention with this blog is to piggyback on the posts I have on Instagram and perhaps connect to a future long form video series on YouTube that will delve into the following topics: sustainable Urban lifestyle ideas, container gardening, gardening despite and with different kinds of barriers, pollinator protection and stewardship, waste reduction, building urban forests, and many other topics related to our relationship to Earth Mother and with each other. If you have checked out my About page, you will already have a really good sense of my interests and intersections and hopefully find my unique perspective educational, humorous, and inspiring.
For those that have not meandered over that way, I have a variety of intersections that impact my experience in this life such as being neurodivergent, managing chronic health conditions, and being queer. Even though I am in a better financial place than I was a few years ago, I also know what it is like to live paycheque to paycheque and raise a daughter as a single parent. On the other side of things, I am a white cis-gendered woman who has been afforded many privileges because of the colour of my skin and I am working on my own journey of Reconciliation and helping break down the walls that my BIPOC and other LGBTQIA2+ kin are up against.
Sound cool? Intrigued even a little to see what I get up to here? Please consider giving me a follow. I can guarantee that your inbox will not be overloaded with my missives (as it took me a year to get this written) but I do hope to post maybe once or twice a month. As we go, I may develop a schedule and theme rotation but I will be trying my best to keep things seasonal ( I do live in the Aspen Parkland Bio-Region of Alberta, Canada) and relevant to what is happening in the natural world.
Some “housekeeping” rules: I cannot promise that my posts will not get political or get into spiritual topics as I am a very political and spiritual person but as this is my blog, that is my choice. I hope to interact with any followers who chose to post comments but I will also not tolerate hate speech or bullying of any kind. If something does not sit well with you or I have made an error in information, please let me know. Any tips or suggestions you take from my posts are done so at your own risk; please use common sense. I will do my best to fact check and back up my information with science and am always open to learning more but I am human and capable of making mistakes. Sound fair? Great! Let’s crack on then!
Until next time, stay curious and hug a tree!
Melissa
